I'm going to be building a trailer soon out of some 4"x3" angle I have from a previous job. Its just going to be a simple 5x10 trailer with a 3500lbs single axle. I have all my plans layed out on the trailer frame, I'm just not sure which would be the best way to do the corners of the frame. Should I just cut the angle to a 45* cut and weld together, or notch out a square from one piece so the other piece fits into it, or should I just lay one piece of angle on top of the other. Just trying to figure out which would be the strongest. The trailer will be torch cut and stick welded, and I am confident in my welding, just trying to find the strongest combination.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. Reply:Personally, I would cut square notches. On smaller stuff, I just cut the notches with a grinder/cutoff wheel. On the bigger stuff I'd rough cut with the torch and dress it up with the grinder.
