Does anybody have a detailed formula to determine what a linear cost per foot of welding costs? All I want is to determine a quick and simple way to determine what my costs are for welding something. Any help out there?
Reply:What you ask for is impossible. You CAN determine the amount of TIME to make a LF of a specific type of weld, then you have to apply your specific cost per hour to that number. For example: Is your welder a mig production guy working for $12/hr or a Steamfitter working for $32/hr plus benefits? Is he working in a multi million dollar fab shp, or out of your garage? Do you make a weld and ship it out the door, or do you have to perform X ray or UT inspection? It's a big old welding world out there and the variables run from one end of the scale to the other.JTMcC.
Reply:I'll try to remember to bring home a sheet that helps you out on that. I also have two files on my site: http://www.brainfarth.com/Weld%20Costexcel.zip and http://www.brainfarth.com/Welder2.zipCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom. |
