I don't know what happened here at the end of the weld. I was always told to weld from the top down. Also, I had my heat on 4 and wire speed 45 on a miller DVI2
Reply:vertical down is fine for anything under 1/4". Over that you should go up. In some cases thy weld down, but not in structural.Show me an up DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:i got certs for vert down for stuck up to 3/4 thickChuckASME Pressure Vessel welder
Reply:Vert down is the easy way out. to practice vert down try using a t-joint as this will help you with where to concentrate the heat. or eve better try a butt weld with a 1/16" gap. This will give you good control. then move on to vert up. Vert up will have a better penetration because gravity will want to pull your puddle down. and after you master that try maintaining a keyhole in vert up. |
