This started life as a road sign for construction. It had a diesel motor with a 3'X4' sign that had an arrow that would light to go right or left. I wish I had taken pics before I started. It wouldn't be reconizable. The main frame is 2''X3''X1/8'' tube. The axle is a 3500LB with 15'' tires. The main floor is 4'X4'. The floor is 1/8'' steel plate. I left the axle kinda far back for future improvements (longer). Heres the pics hope you enjoy.Feel free to criticize. Reply:Nice trailer. Clean up that Ranger 8!DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Thats a sweet little set up, I like the way you made the chains for the bottle rack. Thats a good job, now go make some money with it.G3miller... 225g, s32p, 250x, 304, 12vs, MSW41 victor o/a thermal dynamics cutmaster 50 lenco panel spotter hobart hf-boxG3 Farms.....raising cattle, hay, kids and hell, ...oh yeah I'm a fire sprinkler contractor by trade.
Reply:I give you an A for effort. Especially because after all these years I still haven't built one!My concern, which might not affect you, is that someone can steal the bottles. No lock collar around the top? I see you have it garaged. I don't have that space, so it would have to be really secure in the HOOD I live in.Now, I own a Ranger 9 and I am disgusted to see your Ranger 8 looking sooooo dirty. For Shame. Get the wax out. Myabe some paint too. hahahe, just kidding.Nice idea. Cool setup. Reply:Thanks fellas! I'll get right on cleaning up the 8. Joker I do intend to figure out a lock system for the bottles for the occasional run to Lowes or somewhere of that sort. Heck nowadays with people scrapping you could probably get robbed at the gas station.
Reply:Looks great.. how do you like that Ranger 8 ??
Reply:thats a nice trailor, now the bottle rack turn it around and it will be easier to change the bottles and yes lock them in. Remember that your equipment reflects on your work,if it looks good than your customers will asssume that the work you do for them will be of the same quallity.Life is tuff,so be sharp lincoln sp 100 cutmaster101 miller bobcat miller 250 mig $thousands in snapon

Reply:About some ideas, Install a vise (like a removable post vise of the rear), lead reels, or posts to hang your leads, you have some room at the toung, start looking for a toung triangle shaped trailer storage box, more storage never hurts. Looks good.
Reply:Looks functional, good job !! As Black Wolf said, you know your needs and anything beyond that are just personal touches.Anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT
Reply:The trailer looks good the only thing I would add is a shield of some sort to prevent damage from debris kicked up by tow vehicle. Sand or rocks in southern climates. Snow and road salt in northern climates.
Reply:Hats off to you, Big Worm. Nice looking setup. Does it have electric brakes?Looks similar to ones I've had and used over the years. Make sure to keep a good lock on the coupler, is what I do anyways even when it is parked in the garage. I want to install a nice alarm on my trailer. I also want to install or modify the ignition switch to accept a key for the on/off idle switch. Basically, security is my biggest thing. The beauty of it is that you are not restricted to one truck( if your truck breaks down or anything like that you can always use another truck!).I will be posting pics of my current trailer soon too.Last edited by Mark...; 01-26-2008 at 02:22 PM.

Reply:good job. i like clean equipment as well. my family thinks i am nuts when i wax my tool boxes.

Reply:Just a couple ideas for your cyclinder rack. I would weld a collar around the base of the stand so the bottles can't be slid to the side and out of the chains. I'd also consider some kind of "shoulder strap" or fork that goes over the top of the tank shoulders, so they can't be lifted straight up and out of the chains. Those retaining forks could be hinged, and locked in place using a hasp and padlock. I'd send a picture, but I don't know exactly how I'd fabricate them. Just trying to throw some ideas your way...
Reply:nice job, looks great! welders dirty, but hey, so is mine, means we use em! lol!
Reply:It does look very nice. The only question I have for you is weight distribution. I was always told, and have experienced myself, that if you load a trailer with more weight on one side than the other, it will tend to fishtail. Do you have that problem, is the box with tools and whatnot about the same weight as the Ranger? Just curious, it looks A LOT better than my trailer!!!Contact me for any metal polishing needs you may have, my avatar is a pic of a standard, painted fire axe that I ground, sanded polished and buffed to a mirror finish.
Reply:Lookin' good! Balance, got to keep that. The biggest cause of fishtailing is overloading behind the axles or too light on tongue weight...one and the same!!"It'll only get dirty again!"Scotty, from The Little Rascals.City of L.A.
