Heres a link to a snow plow me and a friend built for my 2006 hondo foreman 500, works good, pretty heavy ( 125 or more) but raises higher than the store bought ones that i have seen, and didnt lose any ground clearance, one keeper and drive away, not to bad for a bored timberfaller and heavy equipment operator. made from stuff that we scrounged around our small town.. (pop 200) The blade is a old 100 pound propane tank, schedule 40 pipe for main arms, 1 inch stainless boat shaft, and couple of old stihl chainsaw bars, some angle iron and plate, plowed over one mile of road the other day, had about 5 inches snow at bottom of road, and 1 foot at the top, so it has been getting a workout.. not to bad for a couple of bored alaskans.. let me know what you think.. thanks.. also lot of other pictures in the other folders if you get real bored..heres the link..start to finish..http://baddog0690.myphotoalbum.com/v...umName=album13
Reply:Awesome job! Hows that honda hold up to pushing that plow and snow?
Reply:It does pretty good, the weight of the plow helps alot, takes quite a few passes to clean a 12-16 foot road off tho.. 60 inches wide. one pass up the middle the can speed up and half passes on the sides a few times.. my friend has a polaris six wheeler with rubber tracks and that thing can push the snow, if i had chains it would work alot better too..
Reply:I like how you did the center mount. Helps direct some forces back to the whole machine rather than all on front.
Reply:Nice!  A few weeks ago, I welded a wear plate onto a neighbors quad's snowplow, and repaired some mount holes that tore through!
Reply:My Bombarier Can Am 650's factory mount is mid-ship under the machine. It pushes just fine. Good job.
Reply:Wow, that is impressive scrap use!!! So, the winch is used to pull the plow up and down? That was the only detail I couldn't see clearly. Nice pics and great project. Every step was photographed, that's cool! If it ever snows down here I am not building a plow. Reply:Could make a few closeups of the spring attachments and the tilting mechanism of the plow? Im also interested in the rotating bit: How is it locked? What type of axle does it have?Im planning on making my own snowplow, but im stuck because I don't know how these parts are constructed.
Reply:On page two of the pictures, the one that says "cut four inches off of length".. shows everything pretty good.. we did switch the front bolt to a 1" bolt and the back one to a 3/4 bolt.. the front one stays tight and the blade swivels on it. the back one can be raised and then move blade to angle you want then it drops into hole cut into bottom (yellow) plate.. we did add another plate to that one as first one was not thick enough and was starting to warp..then at bottom of page the "pass side off bike" picture you can see we added some length to the back pin as it was twisting to easy.. it goes threw three holes now and is alot more rigid. The whole thing is attached by a 1" SS shaft that goes threw the bike above the frame , all we had was round shaft square hole, so that could be made alot better if I wanted to do it again, it just has clips on each end, pull clip and pull out shaft and unhook winch and drive away.first couple pictures show that pretty good..I will add some more pictures as soon as it stops snowing and I get a chance to clean it off.. If you have any questions I would be glad to help
Reply:hello baddog, i like this very much. about five years ago i made an end loader bucket for a honda foreman out of scrap. it looks like crap but works very well. i specially like the way you mounted the rear support in the middle of the bike. i mounted mine on the front and had to remove the shocks and replace them with strutts. did you have to do this? i guess mine would be different because i pick up weight instead of pushing it. this is a very good set up. i may have to re think my design. i think i could pick up more weight if it was centered in the middle. it will pick up a lot of weight but the rear end comes off the ground. (wife gets tired of sitting back there) ha ha.
Reply:Diehard : We have been playing with the idea of doing the same thing with this, if you got any ideas or a picture of what you did might help.. the only problem with this one is it would have to be back a little farther than what mine is, as when my blade is in the air it is alittle lite in the backend, it weighs quite a bit, good for pushing but lifting would be a problem if you could hook up behind the motor would be the ticket.. we might looking to that to.. i'll let you know.. I also Added few more pictures and small vid.. Had to beef up the main attachment a little, but been working her hard and not one problem.. think we got her now..thanks for the compliments, you can see some of what we have been plowing in the sledding folder too..its up a couple folders.. thanks
Reply:baddog, ill try a picture, hope it works Attached Images
Reply:baddod, it uses two tarp motors from a coal truck for the lift and tilt. i also had to put an automotive battery on it. (out of a chevy truck). it runs the little batteries down real quick. i need to put some bigger cables on it, these small ones twist up pretty quick.
