Reply:made the cooking rack slide out and got the water heater welded on theres also a damper between the pit and the waterheater to control temp
Reply:Hey it's looking good. The kids will get'er done.
Reply:I can say, from experience, that the verticle tube is large enough.....Cut a door, add a hanger (three prong), so you can hang 3 whole chickens in there and they'll smoke/cook while you're bbqing....the skin will be crispy, the inside will be smoky and moist!KRS***************************************Lincoln AC225 stick welderLincoln HD100 WeldPak flux core wire feed welderThree of the cheapest grinders money can buy
Reply:this thing has gotten way heavy so we decided to put it on a small trailer, made a door on the smokker gonna make the racks spin so there easyier to load Attached Images
Reply:dont know if you want to see them but heres more pics got a hot plate on the fire box  the firebox door stop and the main door counter weight acts like a door stop also, were getting close but it seems like we'll never get done, these smokers are way more work than they look Attached Images
Reply:Good job, you and a bunch of friends will enjoy that for years to come.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

Reply:Looks great man!!!  If you don't mind, what show is it going in?  The Bell Co. Show starts next week, and I'll be there with my niece (showing horses), would love to see it in person if that's where it's going to be shown.Contact me for any metal polishing needs you may have, my avatar is a pic of a standard, painted fire axe that I ground, sanded polished and buffed to a mirror finish.
Reply:ya its bell county they are showing 2 projects each plus stinkin chickins, man those birds stink...lol but for real were showing the pit from my son,the fire pit from my daughter, and a couple more small projects im told but were just starting on them now so dont expect much,4 days and now were starting....great.... good thing i didnt run out of mig wire huh ...oh yea that was last night lol
Reply:Hahaha, I know what you mean.  Horse show is Saturday and my niece JUST started practicing this Sunday after church.  The girl is just lucky that horse is as good as it is, otherwise, she'd make a fool of herself!!!  Anyway, good luck to you and the kids, I look forward to seeing those projects in person for a change.Contact me for any metal polishing needs you may have, my avatar is a pic of a standard, painted fire axe that I ground, sanded polished and buffed to a mirror finish.

Reply:Ah.......so when is the cookout?Very nice job though. It's an awesome BBQ.
Reply:thanks all my son said he wants to paint it bbq black and silver
Reply:Wow! It turned out great...real professional looking job
Reply:Nice job. Now you have to cook with. Different set of skills. But just as rewarding. I'm thinking hickory chips, pork loin, ribs, and a brisket. Oh and don't forget the KC Masterpiece. Enjoy.
Reply:i use oak, pecan and mesquite for the wood and i love to smoke briskets and turkeys also, planning on firing it up as soon as the shows over
Reply:Good Job.    Looks like something outta Willie Wonka

Reply:According to  "Paladin" (have gun, will travel; ) Buffalo hump was the best meat a man could eat[SIZE="5"Yardbird"
Reply:ive had buffalo tid bits before ....not any hump im guessing that would be the rump roast??????????????
Reply:there finally done heres the pit and a couple more Attached Images
Reply:Very very nice, that looks great!......if I was closer, I'd put some flames on it for you.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Wow, thats some finishing touches! Looks great. Have you cooked on it yet?
Reply:nope only a test fire got it up 2 600 degrees trying to burn it out
Reply:What did you test fire it with?
Reply:dry oak
Reply:Oak seems to be popular. I think alot of it has to do with what you were brought up on.Oak seems to be prevelant in the south, as hickory seems more common up north.
Reply:yea i like pecan and misquite too but hickory really isnt available around here
Reply:I get hickory at the home depot. And I can't believe the Pats are going to lose. Some people made some on the betting today!
Reply:i buy my wood by the truck load, dont think id want to pay for all those bundles but maybe ill have to get one bundle and try it,i did get to use black walnut once and it seemed to burn pretty hot i would think hickory would also,ya i was actually going for the pats even though im a die-hard dolphin fan
Reply:nice

Reply:wow first willie wonka now a steam engine, why just not say you think it sucks
Reply:Paintman, I use charcoal (Kingsford), and soak about half a bag of the hickory chunks for about 45 minutes then just throw some on the charcoal, and it smolders nice. Then about every hour I throw in some more charcoal in and some more water soaked wood chunks or chips seems to work.
Reply:have you ever slow smoked a brisket or turkey that way?
Reply:Not turkey, bur brisket definately. Usually 10-12 hrs at 200 degrees F. Then let rest for about an hour, put in fridge overnight. That way the next day when I slice it on the meat cutter, it cuts better. Don't forget to use a good rub though.
Reply:awsome ..... you should try a turkey unless you dont like turkey, inject it,put it on low heat overnight, its pretty darn good
