This roller has to stay in balance and stay balanced end to end (One end can't be heavier than the other )The tube is DOM 8 3/4" OD with a 1/4"wall 28" long..So to begin with both end plates must weigh the same so step one is into the grinder for a little "flatning"..Come out nice and flat and shiney..Next we bore the tube..Print says it can be installed with 1/2" left to the outside..So lets see..the plates are .730 thick..add.500 and we bore the tube 1.230 deep and make the bore 8.350 for laffs..Turn heads 8.360 for the shrink..Heat tube and install to shoulder..Next!...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Head installed and 1/2" left to the outside..First pass..Second pass..After cooling use the same steady rest spots and bore the endplates..(2.002..(2 Inch shaft going thru))Before installing the shaft EMPTY THE CHIPS!!!!We dont need all that trash inside rolling around making everything out of balance now..Next!...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:If the bores are in line then the shaft will slide right thru..If not?Yeah it went thru..I made it..First weld pass on the journal..Last pass..Let cool overnite and machine in the morning..I get all the fun jobs.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Is that a 3 jaw chuck in a 4 jaw chuck? Also on the welds , it doesn't look like there is much penetration because i don't see any heat spots.

Reply:Originally Posted by zapster3 jaw in a 4..Yup..Do it all the time when the hole in the plate is way too small for the jaws on the chuck to grab inside..There is a actual 3 jaw for the machine but the smallest it will grab inside is 4"I don't use it much.....zap!

Reply:Zap how come you have to turn down the weld? Will it be in the way because of what the journal rides in or something?Nice work like always.pro-level dumpster diver Hobart 125EZ

Reply:Zap that is beautiful work. I admire your ability a lot. Was the antirust by chance cosmalene? (I spelled it like it sounds). I suppose you could spray it on a truck's undercarriage in it's thicker state. The truck would smell like the inside of a Harbor Freight store for a while though.
