Customer got 3 new tractors this year, and I'm having to fabricate some mounts for a 300 gallon front mounted tank for them.   Here is what we are working with.   Everything was O/A cut, and welded with a Powermig 255 .035 70s-6 wire, @ 21.2 volts 360 IPM  Cutting out a couple of the rear mounts.  Tacking them up.  I beveled and left a 3/32" gap.    and the finished pieces.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Then I bolt them to the tractor, and start working on my frame work.Frame work is tacked up nowstart hanging it on the tractor to check fit.and now tacking the front bolt plate inplace.  All material is 1/2" flat bar, and 6" channel.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Now it's time to tack the top frame work in placeand mount the  saddle the tank will sit in.  I'll pull it off in the morning and finish welding it up, and paint it.  ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:hey hammack what is he doing with his tractors?  I am a farmer in PA.www.burdettenetworks.com
Reply:Everything, lol   This guy farms about 4000 acres which in this part of the state is pretty significant.  these 8330's will be used for anything from planting, to tillage to picking.  Right now this tractor is going to be set up to plant and put out pop-up behind the planters.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:You get all the fun jobs.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:How do you do such nice cuts with OA? I cant get anything close to that. When I OA cut, the molten area melts back into itself leaving a crappy cut. Whats the secret?Miller Syncrowave 200Hobart Handler 140Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38E-Z Tube BenderPlasma Cam DHC2
Reply:Q - much like you've probably learned on your plasmacam if it melts back you're probably getting it too hot.  Either move the torch much faster or reduce the heat and you should see an improvement.
Reply:Well if you have cut as much with a torch as I have you kind of have no choice but to learn it.  For the first 7 years I never had anything but a torch, 4.5" grinder, and an old portable 180 amp machine.  I was even doing ALOT of sheet metal work, and the torch, and stick welder was all I knew.  It was kind of a sink or swim situation.  Now i deel more in 1/2" to 2" plate, and the clean cuts same ALOT of time and money not having to grind them too much.  Three things make a clean cut with an O/A torch.  Steady hand, Torch set correctly, and travel speed.  MOST people never get the torch set right even if they do get the other two.  I light the torch and turn the Acetylene until the flame jumps off the tip.  Then i turn it back down just below that point, and then use the Oxygen to make a neutral flame.  Then you just have to be steady and move the right speed.  Alot of guys tend to move to slow in my opinion.  keep the torch moving, and you should hear a sound almost like ripping cloth.  If you do that then you'll have O/a cutting down in no time.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:Thanks for the cutting advice, i am going to give it a try. How high are you running your acet pressure? I run 5psi working pressure for cutting, but I just cant get the entire flame to jump off the tip. I dont want to run any higher because everything I see says 5psi max on the acet. Is there a better way?Miller Syncrowave 200Hobart Handler 140Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38E-Z Tube BenderPlasma Cam DHC2
Reply:David,  it's actually not adding much weight.  Normally there is a rack with about a ton of weight bolted to the front. We took it off and added the tank mount so probably only adding about 500 pounds or so.Quicifer, I normally run my torch on 10psi and 40psi, but I normally work on heavier metals, and I just don't ever change it.  You do not want to go over 12 on your acetylene as it can self combust if the pressure get's to high.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:try about 11 or 12 psi on acetylene
Reply:wouldn´t the tank stop much of the incoming "cool" air to the radiator? My Babies: HF Drill pressHF Pipe Bender3   4.5" Black and Decker angle grindersLincoln Electric PROMIG 175that´s it!

Reply:Nice job. The man is getting his moneys worth and some. Kinda kills two birds with one stone. These new tractors look more and more sporty each year.
