Hi Im new in this forum and pretty much new to welding, my boss is asking me to weld/fabricate a bracket : 1/2"x 6"x36" plate to a couple of 1 1/4"x36" square solid pieces, that will hold a "4 pack oil filter unit" and ultimately will mount on a caterpillar d11r piece of machinery. The problem is that we have a millermatic 212 1-phase, 30-210Amps, 230v 60hz, and the thickest cable I can use on it is .035 and .045 flux core, I need advise or tips on how to weld this pieces with ths welder, or if I need a diferent process. thank you.
Reply:you can always preheat your metal, to help burn in, run mutiple passes (probably a root and 2 covers)just my .02
Reply:i would probably do preheat and then use dual shield wire.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:You have no problem. It will do it with bare wire, just run it hot and make multi passes.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
