Can someone tell me where I can get a smaller gas nozzle for my Lincoln Pro Mig 175 welder?I need something to get into tight places for roll cage work. Also can someone suggest a size for that type of work and do I need to change the gas settings when changing the nozzles? Thanks in advance!Mike
Reply:I imagine your supplier can get some but what I do is take an old nozzle and hammer the end to make it egg shaped when looking at the end. I leave the flow rate where it is and rotate the nozzle so that the narrow part allows me to reach into the slot.. We always have a few of these custom nozzles laying around the shop usually sitting on the feeder.
Reply:About all I can tel you is that there are some made for standard guns. Dunno about Lincoln. The nozzle you normally get is about .50 (1/2 inch) inside dia.. For some there is a nozzle that is about 3/8ths inch inside dia.. It is common practice to get a tapered tip to go with that. It leaves a little more opening room for gas flow and spatter build up with the small nozzles. You can take the time to taper your own tips I guess. More than likey gonna grind your finger tips first. Another practice is to grind/cut about 1/8th inch off the end of the nozzle. Turn the gas up a wee bit if it needs it.
