First stage of a set of reptile enclosures I'm building. Got the frame done and ready to be painted. All 1" square tube, the gussets were left over drops from the 16 gauge sheet used on the lid, back, and bottom. They will be used to secure in the lexan walls. I thought about riveting the lid together but decided to try out a spot weld tip on the mig. I don't think it came out too bad except for missing my marks a few times. More pics as I make more progress this evening. Attached ImagesI like to party!
Reply:looking good so far captain! are they for personal use, or are you making them for someone else?Later,Andy

Reply:Some are for myself, and some are being given to a girl who does animal rehab specifically for reptiles. In materials I'm spending about $350 per unit but getting alot back on taxes cause its a donation. So I'm making money and helping a good cause as for the spot welding I was talking about, I have a spot timer and the tip is basicly just a longer normal tip with grooves cut in it so you can press it flat against the metal. I drilled the sheet metal, then set it against the square tube frame and plug welded the holes. took about a minute after I got the timer set up.I like to party!
Reply:So these "reptiles", they need steel cages eh? And who wrestles them in their?

That would be the back half of my house I've been attempting to remodel for 2 years and haven't gotten passed the demolition phase yet. So building with wood, is just out of the question |
