I have an HH 140 in which I am using .030 flux core.  The welder is in my basement and during the Humid weather it tends to get damp from condensation.  Lately i've been having some wire feed problems and upon opening the feed enclosure I saw that there were beeds of water on the wire.  It doesn't seem to be anywhere else on the welder.  My question is that I've been told by my instructer that I can buy something to clean the wire as it comes of the spool to save the drive rolls and liner.  Does anyone know where I can find one of these things he talked about.thank youLet's try it this way!!!! No, Really, It'll work...maybe.
Reply:You can buy from a welding supply what I call a wire wiper.  Basically, it appears to be a piece of felt padding wrapped around the wire and held in place just before the feed tube into the rollers by a plastic clamp.  Some setups are red and some are black, not sure of the difference, maybe just manufacturer's choice.  You could probably rig up your own with felt clothe and a wooden clothes pin.  Good luck !!!A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
