Reply:A Rictor scale.
Reply:A seismograph or seismometer.
Reply:No idea what it is, but nice paint... Auto body shop in school?Me!

Reply:It is a seismograph, which measures Earthquake shaking. If I clamp the grey base to a table and shake the table back and forth the base moves with the table. The arm remains stationary. This illustrates Newtons First Law of Motion Inertia. LomitaWelder no fair you are from LA
Reply:BIIIIIIIIIIG Protractor...for small arcs.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.

Reply:Newton's Firt law of Motion:objects at rest tend to stay at rest, objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless there is an external force to change action.Newtons second law of motion:Force = Mass X A (F=MA)Newtons third law of motion:For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. My absolute favorite thing I "Learned" in High school ( more like common sense just brought to lite)
Reply:Newtons laws are one my favorite things to teach. The internet provides so many fun and painful examples of inertia. Type in Terry Tate Office linebacker. Kids love it. He has alot of inertia.
Reply:I like Jokers answer the best. So damn true too !John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Reebs do you use a pool table to teach inelastic collisions? How about deflection angles, angle in = angle out? One of my best teachers in science used things like this to demonstrate practuical applications in science. Good to see you do similar things, nice job. I can remember my teach doing dust explosions, sticking his hand into molten lead and making thermite in class. Can you see the uproar that would cause today? Shame almost all the good things are banned from schools now.

Reply:DSWI do the dust explosion but have never done the lead. Teaching science is like being a kid.
