Here is some work I did today on a semi-trailer. They are calling it the "trash trailer" meaning that they do not haul furiniture or houshold goods with it anymore, just trash. I guess that explains the dog poo smell I encountered while working on it. Anyhow, the right landing leg was bent in like crazy and all the braces were busted off. The leg itsef was not bent, but the mounting plate was curled up like a potato chip.Sorry about the quality on these pics, but until I get a new camera, this is what we get. After removing the leg, I cut the plate off with a 4 1/2 with a cutoff wheel. You can kinda see the bend on this shotAfter a little hammering (I call it massaging with a hammer) with a short handle 12# sledge, eyeballing and more hammering and eyeing it ended up pretty straight. Now to weld it back on with 3/32 7010And weld any visible cracks on leg before bolting back up to frame. The rest is gonna have to wait until tomorrow 'cause the sun is going down and the beer is calling me, but not before doing a little repair work on the driveshaft that works these legs together. As you can see, the end of the shaft has opened up. Easy fix. Cut if apart where its spliced together in the middle, flip it around and burn two holes in the other end.Again, sorry about the blurryness, I think this camera works better on the macro setting. I will keep that in mind tomorrow.
