Holding 600 lbs

Starting to plan a deer stand for the fast approaching deer season.  My welding isn't perfect but I'm trying to practice regularly and pick-up new skills.my question is if I use very heavy duty metal bevel edges and use a hot enough rod, is holding up 2 well fed men a serious safety concern?  Planning to build the base out of 1/4" angle and weld bases to hold heavy drill stem pipe.Planning to be about 5' in the air but want to know if this is something that requires utmost safety or would a decent weld be just fine?

Reply:Here's mine from about 5 years ago.  Plenty of room for 2 men and a boy w/ office chairs, fold down ledge for coffee, ammo, binocs.This was made from 2" 14 ga square tube legs with 2"x2"x14 ga bolted angle bracing.  Legs fit into "stake pockets" set at an angle on the blind floor frame.  Clamp bolts held them in.This was a VERY comfortable blind.  Easy angled ladder access w/ landing and full height entry door.Many W. Texas deer taken out of this stand.  I miss it a lot. Reply:I'm with Dsw on the sccafolding unless you just want a project I know here locally you can get what they call baker sccafolding that is 5 foot tall and about 5 foot wide for $200.00 and it is plenty strong to hold two well fed men. LOLVantage 300 kubota ,miller 304 xmt ,lincoln ln 25 pro , ranger 305 G, plenty of other tools of the trade to make the sparks fly.
Reply:I have a bunch of oil stem pipe I planned to use for legs.  I can get heavy angle drop for cheap and I am hoping worst case is I have to buy about 12' of new angle for the base then frame out the blind in light 1/8 or 3/16 1x1 angle.Trying to find the safest/best way to attach large drill stem to the Angle Base as securely as possible.
