First Question: Under the B31.3 requirements for Severe Cyclic Conditions, what percentage of socket welds that have not been tested by radiography or UT must be tested by the MT or PT methods?Second Question: Under the B31.3 requirements for Elevated Temperature Fluid Service, what percentage of socket welds in P-No. 4 and P-No. 5 materials that have not been tested by radiography must be tested by the MT or PT methods? Are these to be tested before or after post-weld heat treatment (when required)? My memory tells me that 100% shall be examined after post weld heat treatment but I am not certain.Thank you in advance,Jellopool
Reply:You are correct that the MT or PT is to be performed *after* the PWHT. I am checking on the percentage requirement.
Reply:I have pointed myself in this direction but I am not sure.....B31.3 341.4.3 & 341.4.4Thanks for helping me research this.Jellopool |
