Reply:Your best bet is always going to be a local supplier.
Reply:i agree with level zero... it may be cheaper per piece to get it somewhere else, but by the time you factor in shipping/freight, a local guy will almost always be cheaper. are you building just one car's worth of stuff, or are you running a production facility? sometimes suppliers will offer free/discounted freight for large orders.Later,Andy
Reply:Check out McMaster Carr. Google it. It may be a little difficult to find what you are looking for on their site, but their pricing is very competitive.

Reply:I go to the local scrap yards - 35 cents a pound
Reply:Yellow Pages! look under 'steel/metal supply'Old school - "let your fingers do the walking"
Reply:Call other fabrication shops. I get "drops" for a good price. A drop is not scrap it is just left over from other jobs. You never know what you will find but the price is right. If you need stuff for a cage I would call a shop and see where they get there steel.reber

Reply:you are saying that you can't find any "reasonably priced" metal around you... exaclt yhow "reasonable" are you expecting it to be? aluminum is one of the more expensive "normal" metals out there... obviously MS is the cheapest, but after that, it pretty much goes sky-ward, pretty fast.Later,Andy
Reply:I live in the Sacramento area and am wondering if anyone lives close by and can recommend a scrap metal place.  TIA
