Just got done with a training sled.  Nothing fancy, but it turned out ok.I built it with the idea of throwing some sand bags on top for extra weight, but its fairly hard to push even empty.  Used my crappy old Miller swinger 180AC welder as usual. Attached Images
Reply:What is a training sled?Yup
Reply:I had a heck of a time welding the sled rails at the cuts,  I kept burning thru even though I used 6013 and turned the amps down so low I could hardly start an arc.  I am looking at buying a Hobart AC/DC Stickmate, is it easier to weld thin materials w/DC? Attached Images

Reply:I have an excellent idea . . . . Remove the wheels from push mower, put skids on and you can cut the grass while exercising . . .Millermatic® 251
Reply:If you have troubles burning through try going to a smaller diameter rod, as for your question regarding using dc on thinner stuff... Dc welds nicer, but you can get arc blow sometimes, and it might burn a hole in the sheet, so thats why its better with AC, (you do not get arc blow) and using a smaller diameter rod. hope i helpedNothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
