About 15 years ago I purchased a O/A cart from Northern. I wanted it because of the size of the wheels. I could roll my rig across the yard with out the fear of hitting a little stone and dumping the whole thing. There was a bit of experience in there, so I bought this cart. It worked great. I can wheel anywhere with confidence.I have a big Miller welder that isn't at all portable. A few weeks ago I ran into a Millermatic 90 in a garage sale. The asking price of $20.00 got my attention, although it looked pretty rough. The lady said it worked, but it didn't have any wire. I brought it home and determined that it mostly worked, but the fan was intermittent and the gun housing was broken up. It had a starter button taped on to feed the wire. A friend loaned my his cable to make sure it worked ok. Another $100 in parts and it welded nicely. I liked that it ran on 110v so I decided it would work fine as a portable machine for around the house. The very next weekend in the back of a pickup at another garage sale was a metal cart that the lady said her husband used to keep his welder in. It looked like a fit, so I parted with $5.00. This cart had a small caster wheel in the front and a pair of slightly larger casters on the rear. Remembering my Northern cart I decided on larger wheels. I added the front assembly and made the handle bars reversible so I wouldn't hang up on them every time I walked past. The rear of the cart only went up to the top of the welder, so I bent a piece of square tubing and added the cylinder holder.I haven't had it out in the yard yet, but I'm confident it will do great.John Attached Images
Reply:I like the big wheels.I see a GA17-C MIG gun on that Millermatic 90! Toss that POS in the trash! Get a new gun and you will have a lot less problems. I had one if them on a 130, and yes it worked but would go through consumables a lot.Me! |
