This is just playing around in my garage at home. Plate is 16 guage I bought at the hardware store. I cut up some 1" strips from the plate so all lengths are uniform. I am replacing the plastic tray in the background. The tools are wp9 torch, #4 gas cup, 1/16" red tungsten, 85 amps max. Invertec V250S. I don't have a flap disk, so I left the burrs from the bandsaw to use as filler. I fused all but the vertical up.Vertical up with a little S2 filler added for the deoxadisers. Corner flat with S6 fillerInside. It did not warp.David Last edited by David R; 05-18-2008 at 08:53 AM.Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:You know, I'm just a hack, and have no worthwhile opinion here whatsoever, but I would really like to see microzone's opinion here,,,, I notice he's been very critical of welds by certain people in the past, Also Go1lum, both seem to have a very good eye. Could you two please, for those of us unenlightened, give us a proper and correct evaluation of these welds???? It would be much appreciated ......of course, we expect an expert, unbiased opinion,,,,,,Last edited by mark8310; 05-18-2008 at 10:29 PM.

Reply:Welding is not a perfect process, in a perfect world i would not admit that i had ever welded anything, I am not the first person to say this. thank you David R for the post, and contributing so much to our welding community.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:David R:My flap disc is indispensable. TIG hates mill scale. It caused porosity in my mild steel welds until I figured it out. I don't know what 16ga. your hardware store sells, but it probably has mill scale.
