My buddy is a welder by trade and i am wanting to buy him a welding mask for his birthday. I really don't have any idea which brand or type to buy for him as i am not a welder myself. Any ideas and/or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Reply:Price your comfortable paying will determine what we can recommend. They start at around $30 rise above $400.1981 Lincoln SA 200Miller Trailblazer 302gMiller 211 Mig Welder w/ AutosetI'm learning to stick metal together
Reply:I'm looking to spend around 100$ at most.
Reply:Tractor supply sells a pretty decent one for like $80, I think. I really like mine, but my eyes are super sensitive so I cant use it for anything more than tack welding now (It happens with all the auto darkening helmets ive tried)...[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:I have tried many masks expensive and not so expensive but this one http://www.websoft-solutions.net/Wel...sf-7190n99.htmIt is about $22.00 and is recommended for welding fumes. Was the best by far.It fits inside most welding helmets and it does not touch your face.It also does not have any restriction to your breathing.Just have to breathe normal. The NORTH brand 7190.AWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder
Reply:Alright, so i guess the wording I am looking for is welding helmet. Sorry for the confusion.
Reply:does you buddy have a hood already?IMO $100 for an auto hood is not enough for a good one...they say the ones from HF are good but you wont find one in front of my faceif your not talking about an auto...i like my hsl100 they go for about $30.00 and have a large windowand in the future an auto lens can be bought and put in itpeople say the hsl100 is to heavy. i say they have weak necksmy opinion is skewed , ive only used jackson hsl100s
Reply:I bought a Parweld Everyday Light Reactive Helmet which has an auto-darkening facility and was inexpensive (Euro 39.00) which I have used for Stick/Mig and Tig welding without any problems. It is excellent for welding operations but is not suitable for grinding where a safety shield would be required.
Reply:If he's a welder by trade he most likely has a certain kind/brand he prefers. If it was me, I would buy him a Pancake hood, only way to go if you have never tried one in my opinion! And heck, it's $60 bucks so if it doesn't work for him it's not the end of the world. But then again I have no idea what kind of welder he is, so that idea might not be too practical in all applications.Good luck, Six
Reply:If i was you i would buy your buddy some clamps or some other kind of hand tools.$100 can buy a few quality hand tools that he will have for a long time or a "cost effective welding helmet"Just sayin
