Reply:7018 UP.  Did this yesterday......Invertec V155-SDavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:nice looking weld david soon as i get my camera back i will post some pics
Reply:Not the best, but a cap I did (I don't have pictures of my fill) with 1/4" 7018 in the flat.  My only concern with this one is that I didn't stagger the stop-starts!IMO, if you claim to be the best welder, you're f*cked.  Honestly?  If someone more experienced than yourself offers input, d*mn well listen!  Should you choose to use it, then use it!  If you choose to use only part of it, then so be it!  I was once told that you don't learn from working with one welder, but you need to work with many welders to learn the trade.I've only been doing this pressure vessel stuff for maybe a month at most, and I've done one 100% X-ray seam so far (which was back gouged and sub-arced by someone else, and is being shot Friday) and I'm on the process of another 100% circle seam from the inside with 7018 on material about 3-4" thick that follows the same situation.  The vertical tacks alone that hold the end on I triple passed and are 5" long on the outside of the vessel.  Be it overhead vertical, vertical, or vertical flat. 5G I believe.  I can't remember!  The rod goes in the holder, you set it accordingly and if it works, f*ckin eh!Basically, what I'm getting at is never think that you're a hot shot.  Personally, I know Jack Shmitt (and he's just not that interesting, unless you're loaded!)  Keep an open mind, never think you know it all and accept what other's have to show you, even if you choose to use it or not!  Just my two cents!Nobody likes a know-it-all, but they seem to like somebody that's willing to learn!Last edited by mb_welder; 05-30-2008 at 09:41 AM.
Reply:Also IMO, before I f*cked up my wrist, vertical dual shield was a sinch!  And people wonder why I prefer smaw, my wrist needs the rest!...ehh, before anyone asks..."&" is my weld stamp.  Of all the symbols to get, I get stuck with an ampersand!Last edited by mb_welder; 05-30-2008 at 10:00 AM.

Reply:Dang, we need some jetrod in here. My problem is that my cheapo low megapixel camera will not give detail like needed on this one.You guys are gonna make me have to go buy a new camera.Well, at least when the wifie tries to chew me for buying a new camera when we already have one I can say its David R, Bbaygents,737 mechanic, Step7720 and Zapsters fault!!!
Reply:Mark... Blame it on me I don't care.    I don't have a wife.    I can spend my time and money as I wish.I thought this was for 7018 only.   Doesn't matter, but I have some nice looking pulsed spray pictures or I could take more.I Just take pics of my work and post em.David Last edited by David R; 06-02-2008 at 09:05 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Heres one of my favorites- This is 316 ss pipe for a recent bridge project that went to Chicago. The pipes all had to be polished after it left the shop so the smoother the welds the better.  I did use a aronson weld positioner to do these mind you but I did manually weld them. The second pics are the inside which were all tigged. It was one of those satisfiying projects that all will see for many years to come. I'll get some stick pics in here sooner or later...
