Well at work I was asked to build a large steel box that would be used to haul sawdust and crap wood the the hog bin to be chewed up and trucked out. We have a  bunch of large steel plates we used to use to hold down blocks of lumber that would be in the kiln's drying to help stop warpage. As the loading of the plates became a safety issue they just stacked them off to the side. Well now they asked me to try and use the plates for the sawdust bin box. Well it's taking alot of cutting and the plates and 3/4 inch so moving them is a little hard. Here are some pic's of the plates and my pregress so for. I will get more pic's when I get more done.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.

Reply:That's mighty TOUGH sawdust you got up there!!
Reply:Well the box is just over eight feet long and five feet wide and tall on the back side. Their will be to loader hook ups welded on the back for dumping it. The shorter front side will be hinged and will open to allow the sawdust to dump out. I am welding it mostly with 7018 5/32 rods wrking around 180 - 210 amps depending on position. I will get some pic's.Last edited by jamlit; 07-01-2008 at 08:00 AM.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:I was looking at the rubber tire loader in the background and at the same time thinking it looked like you were building a new bucket for it. Out of 3/4" plate you should be able to almost dig with it.  I was wondering if that machine had a QD bucket and a set of forks so you could move that box.

Reply:Nice one Jamlit.Looks good!Pittsburgh .75 gauge... that's nice tin!  Keep in mind: Loader bucket lift and leveling linkage involves complex geometry. The bucket is "clocked" in relation to the lift arms for a compromise between digging, loading, carrying, dumping and maintaining level throughout the cycle. You'll probably want to make a trial fit as soon as possible; to check all clearances, throughout the cycle.Good luck with it.

Reply:Awsome stuff! Made to last. Amazing reading about the scale of things but that last picture of the timber for drying is mind blowing."One of the things we have to be thankful for is that we don't get as much government as we pay for."
