Does anyone have experience in welding 7475 AL? If so what type process and filler work best from your past experience. Thanks Gina
Reply:FYI (incase anyone ever runs across this question themselves)I found out what I thought was true but wanted to verify.....7475 is similar in chemistry to 7075, 7075 has a reputation as being non-weldable. The additions of Cu and Mg to these Al Zn base alloys results in an inherent problem, after arc welding, associated with stress corrosion cracking and for this reason they are not usually welded in any structural applications.
Reply:Resistance welding methods work well on 7xxx series aluminums. |
