Hi guys i am new to the forum my name is Ravi. I was wondering everyones opinion of the Thermal Arc prowave 185 tsw ac/dc. I am opening a fabrication shop geared toward automobiles. I need the capability to build custom turbo systems using aluminum tube on the charge side and stainless on the exhaust side. sections of mandrel bent tube will be welded together to create the bends. Aluminum and stainless will probably never exceed 1/4". Thanks in advance for your insight.Ravi Umbrella Auto Design
Reply:It's a fine welder and will do as well as anything in it's class. I don't think you will have any trouble for what you want to do. the 1/4 inch stuff will be in the upper limits of that class of machines so you may hit the duty cycle limit on any welder. Honestly with air cooled torch you need to break every few minutes as the torch can get pretty warm. There are several guys over on the Hobart Board with the TAs. You may want to do a search or post this question there. Good luck with whatever welder you choose.http://www.hobartwelders.com/mboard/DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill
