One of my customers dropped this off yesterday. I said I dont' know if I can weld it or not. He left. I hit one of the pieces with the tig to see if it was aluminum and not zink or what ever. It looked OK, so I gave it a shot. I tried pulse and it didn't work for sh*t, so I turned it off. I was about 75 amps give or take. 43% + wave balance, 150 Hz because that is where it was last time, 15 cfh argon, 1/16" 5356. I have no 1/16 4043 or I would have used that. Red or gold 3/32" tungsten, I used many. I can't tell the difference. The hole is for fresh air to boost fuel economy The fuel line fitting is 1/4" for scale.I rubbed my files with soapstone, but they still loaded up. I kept cleaning them with a file card, but....I didn't think I could do it, musta been from welding those coke cans. Took a little over 1/2 hour. Reply:Looks pretty good!If you have a small ( 1/2 " ) sanding drum for a die grinder, you might smooth the inside passage a bit and tell him to cover any pits/rough spots with epoxy before installing it, just to keep any turbulence down.
