Welcome to Chris', Iron Welder Challenge!Today's ingredient: 2 pieces of 5" (symmetrical) by 14' long, 3/8" thick angle iron! These recently were given to me and I haven't a clue what to do with them. Maybe a 14' brake? Does anyone have any ideas?Last edited by clearchris; 08-18-2008 at 12:27 PM.Reason: Grammar, what's that?
Reply:I will take the challange!! Just send the pieces to me and I will show you what you can do with these!! actually I do need a brake,, this gives me an idea.....
Reply:You'd have to add a heck of alot of beef to that angle for a 14' brake. The 10 footer we have in the shop probably weighs 2000lbs, and it still starts bowing with a 10' length of .080 aluminum.Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!
Reply:Put them out of the weather. Something will turn up.
Reply:I have 2 of the same thing, except 9' each. They are in the corner waiting for a home. They were scrap from a transformer mount on Kmart roof.David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Wow, I hadn't even considered that they wouldn't be strong enough for a brake. Thanks for letting me know. Hmm, maybe a 6' or 8' brake? Something that could bend stainless so I could knock together some vent hoods?
