Hey all. I am looking to find the limits of the Synchrowave 200. Will it properly weld 1/4" mild steel? What are the limits on Aluminum? I am thinking of getting one. My Airgas salesman didn't seem to know. I have been searching for a while and can't find specific info. ThanksTyler
Reply:I just READ the info on "Millerwelds.com" it is rated for 1/4"aluminum -so 1/4"steel should be NO problem. it says it's rated 150 amps @40% duty cycle , goes to 200 amps . That would weld 70-18 stick (D C )0r 7024 jet rod (on ac) just fine . I don't know why anybody wants to tig mild steel, unless it's very thin .
Reply:More for the appearance sake of things. I wanted to tig a roll cage. The cage would be DOM. I was just wondering the limits of the machine. It will be used for some aluminum and some stainless also.
Reply:It will be perfect for what you are wanting. DOM for the cage is gonna be around .125" so you will have plenty of juice. It will do AL fine but 1/4" will probably be near the limit, depending on pre-heat etc.Millermatic 251Century 180 migSpectrum 625 Syncrowave 250DX
Reply:glad to see another cage going together post pics when done?make sure the tie offs are good so passing tech will be no problem... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Over 30 years ago I was trying to make up my mind over dial arc 200 and the Miller 330 ab/p. I went with the 330. It was about 300 dollars more but I never regreated my choice. A friend of mine bought the dial arc, which is a fine machine, but I ended up making some money welding some aluminum that he could not handle on his machine.I recommend buying the 350 syncrowave. You won't be sorry.
Reply:It would be nice to have a larger machine but I just don't have the cash right now and I am needing a machine. I am excited about it. I will post pics of a smoker I have started when I can find the charger to my digital camera. I will also post pics of the cage as soon as the tubing gets here.
Reply:Well, I decided on the Sychrowave 200. Should be here sometime this week. I appreciate everyones help. I will post some pics when I get some good ones. |
