I read lots of good reviews on the HF 20 ton press, so I went out and bought one. I started to go over it and found the welds that connect the top two channels to the vertical side channels to be really bad, I am going to make a press break for it so I am going to beef the frame up anyway. I will re-weld these spots when I get to the beefing up, I just wondered if I got a bad one or are they coming this way. Thanks
Reply:The company I work for bought one to press bearings out of ski lift sheaves...welds all look like crap to me, either too cold or too hot with some sweet porosity that isn't even fully hidden by the paint. Fitup doesn't look terrible, but its nothing to brag about either. For $120ish dollars I guess you can't bitch that much...That said, it did press bearings out and new ones into about 90 large sheaves without a hiccup. Probably wouldn't run a press brake in one without some beefing though. |
