Ramp Project

Heres the ramp I just finished for the medical group here in the desert.(not tucson)The ramp is to help the medics unload military out of the ambulance onto the dock in the back of the hospital. Nothing complicated but it was a fun project to do. If nothing else it was good aluminum tig practice. It's made out of 1/4" 6061 T-6 sheet tig welded. The handles are 1 1/2" steel tubing cut at a 45 then tig welded to flat steel sheet.(we didn'thave any aluminum to make the handles so that's why I used steel)  Used 1/8" 4043 filler running the miller 350LX at 230. #10 cup with 1/8 tungsten with 30 psi 100% argon. Reply:Excellent execution. And seems easy to move too...Just a couple questions:1.Did you show them? I mean will it be easy to push onto ramp?2. From pictures - the whole ramp supportet by one vertical plate?

Reply:Nice job!???Why didn't they want to use aluminum diamond tread plate???         That's usually what ramps are faced with for traction and safety.Blackbird

Reply:ramps are fun to make. after we give the ramps to the deptment reqesting they put nonskid paint on them.

Reply:Good info for the next one. They ended up putting on some non-skid tape.Felt like 80 grit or something. Turned out nice. They liked the fit of the ramp and also liked that altered handles so it's good to go. Thanks for the compliments and questions.. On to find another project to kill some time.
