I just finished moving to my new house went to hook the welder up. I am not hardly getting any power to the electrode. The welder is making an awful noise when trying to run. I have checked all the normal things like the fuses look to be in good shape. Power supply is the same as the old house. looked over all the switches and they are all in the right position so I am loss any help whould be welcomed thanks.
Reply:First thing, test your incoming power and make sure it is 230 volts.  Then try running on machine on AC with the appropriate rod, thats easiest for the machine to process.  Report back.  I am barely competent with electrical but I understand some basic concepts.  I have the equivelant to your machine but in the Airco badging.Jay DavisAWS-CWIC-60 Specialty Welding ContractorLoving husband, and father of two boys (
Reply:I know for shure that the welder is hooked up to 230 I used a 7018 ac welding rod and same thing lot a noise little to no weld? Thank you for trying to help me well my machine is down
Reply:even if you have it hooked up to 220, you need to make sure each leg has 110Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:More importantly, assure you have the nominal 230V between both hot legs.  115V from each leg to ground can still be the same 115V leg in the breaker panel. If you get 115V from each leg to ground but 0V between the two hot legs then the breaker is tapped into the same leg for both outputs.Last edited by duaneb55; 03-29-2011 at 07:22 AM.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
