Hi guys I'm kinda new here. I'd occasionally lurk to get some ideas for projects. Here's some of my projects that I have done. I'm not a welder by trade It's just a hobby I enjoy.atv trailersbench grider wall mountpontoons for atv'sallthough the pontoons are made of pastic, I built the mould from metal
Reply:heres a pic of the mould and It floats
Reply:Now that is really cool.  I've never seen anything like that!!  James Bond's got nothin' on you How do you make the pontoon hollow, is it a 2 piece mold, I guess like an injection mold?.  I don't know a thing about plastic molding."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:That looks interesting. Welcome aboard. From the look of it, you might be into rotational moulding.Did you also do the boxes and cover on the ATV trailers? They look like the real deal.A novel approach with the pontoons on the ATV. Looks like it works fine too."One of the things we have to be thankful for is that we don't get as much government as we pay for." Reply:Thanks guys, you hit the nail on the head, its called rototational moulding. You use polyethene powder heat the mould with a propane torch and rotate it in both directions so you don't get to much build up on one side. It takes about 15 - 20 minutes of heat and befor you pull it out you let it cool down.
Reply:For the trailers I use walking beam axels on a metal frame that the plastic water proof tub sits in.
Reply:I made the pontoons 4 feet and hindge them in the middle so they're 8 feet total. they fold up for easy storage
Reply:Welcome, and very cool projects.I love to see stuff people build themselves. Very nice work.pro-level dumpster diver                                     Hobart 125EZ
