hey now.i did this weld bead on 2 pieces of 1/8" thick steel butted together. i set my amperage at 60, and i know thats low with 7014 3/32" rods (atleast miller's website tells me it is).but im limited in power anyway so im gonna go to a 6013 rod. i did a series of beads on this weld. it was about 12"-13" long so what i do is i weld, the second i feel tired i give it a few more weaves (to build up strength and concentration to weld longer) and stop. clean up the last weld, move foward about an inch and start again. when im done i weld in the missing spots...on this particular piece i welded about 5" then the rest. btw this was a horizontal weld.i feel like its too clumpy. i feel like it should be flatter. also hows it look for a horizontal weld? the whole weld looks like this. am i ok with the 7014 at 60-65 amps or should i go to a 6013?any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is welcomed. i have no ego with this stuff, i just wanna learn and do it right.the grand ol' opry aint so grand anymoremiller maxstar 150sworking on an oxy/acet set up
Reply:Its definately cold.
Reply:Why are you so limited on amps? Don't you have a TA 95? If your practicing then you should overlap your beads by half, it is practice. Trying to run your beads at such low amperage will probably do you more harm then good to your learning. Get your self some angle atleast 1/4" thick and set it what ever position you want and fill it up.
