I have a trailer with a mobile home axle. The tires have to be replaced so i am thinking of changing the hubs and tires to conventional trailer hubs. Are there differences in the quality of hubs, I have seen tie down, reliable, and other places that don't show a brand. I am looking at a 6 lug idler hubs. Also will chevy/gmc 6 lug wheels fit the 6lug 5.5 hubs. Thanks for the help
Reply:Assuming you find a hub and bearing set to match the spindle, any normal type trailer hub should be fine. The wheel parameters vary, simply matching the bolt pattern is a start, then there is wheel width and offset to think about.http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-...ing/wheels.htmCity of L.A. Reply:It's pretty common for these axles to have a 1 3/8" tapered spindle, if that's the case most any standard 1 3/8" 5 or 6 lug hub will fit the axle. The 6 lug hubs will fit the 3/4 ton Chevy/GMC wheels and also fit the 6 lug Isuzu wheels. If you choose to go with a 5 lug hub the 5 on 4 1/2" pattern will fit Ford and some Dodge wheels and the 5 on 4 3/4" pattern will fit the G.M. wheels.I am what I am, Deal with it!If necessity is the Mother of Invention, I must be the Father of Desperation! |
