We have a 20ft wide Flail mower in with the entire hood worn out. They use these in my area to mow Cotton stalks after the cotton is picked. The first picture is what it is supposed to look like, and the second is what it looks like after we cut the hood out, and with Josh sitting in it doing a little grinding. The hood is 1/4" plate material and we will be welding it in with a Lincoln PM255, and a Miller 250X using 92/8 gas and .035 70s-6 wire when we get that far. This is the end plate of the mower frame. You can see the curve of the deck where we had cut it out..I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:The Cylinders that the knives bolt to were broken, and/or worn pretty bad in spots so we cut them out and repaired the bad spots. The cylinders are 10ft long, and 15 inches in diameter, and will be sent off for high speed balancing as soon as we are thru. Two new pieces tacked in place. These are welded on both sides, and then trim to contour with the plasma That's it for today. I'll take better pics tommorrow. Reply:yeah they always crack me up when you take them a template and they so no problem it will fit just like new. then when you get it back it's like uh oh. 2 hours later you finally get it tacked down. and don't dare say anything about it because the answer is the same.... hey we bent it according to the template. it was perfect....would love for them to come and fit it in.

Reply:Nice looking job on the mower. Nothing like custom fitting something that size. Reply:Originally Posted by Hammack_Weldingduane, not really. We actually have this mower setup in the customers shop, and running his machine. I normally run 92-8, but I also keep C25 as well. Since all he runs in C25 on the miller I didn' t want to have to swap out bottles or drag out the 12VS and run my portable just to be able to use the 92-8. Material is only 1/4" anyway. |
