Reply:thats sweet man my dads got a 46 chevy and its been in the shop for 4 yrs now. good luck gettin it all done
Reply:I know you're not gonna like this, but seeing the picture of what it looked like when you first got it, I prefer it the way it came out of the factory.  Seeing it chopped in your earlier post was neat, but in a different sort of way.  I think it's a neat project, and all, but it somehow seems a shame to change a classic truck.  Not many of them left.  Lot of history in that old iron.I dont mean to offend you, and I apologize, but seeing the original just made me feel like restoring it to it's onetime glory.Again, I don't mean any ill will by my comment.Last edited by farmersamm; 10-16-2008 at 11:04 PM."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I had that arguement with myself a couple of times. I respect the restoration route but enjoy the "one of" creativity of the modified. Always came to the same conclusion....It's my toy, I'll do what I want.....they got rodded. If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:nice, i always enjoy a little customization. but just a little word of advice before you go to any real rodders and start calling your truck a rat rod, that really offends rodders and what they stand for when you call it that, rat rod is really a new term which is greatly frowned upon.and keep the pics comin!
Reply:Looks like a cool project. I to can't wait to see it come along. You should check out metalmeet.com as they show alot on sheet metal shaping and customizing. After seeing how you are moding the hood, I think you might have found a better way. Keep the pic's coming and show how are are doing the work. Thanks for the pic and have fun Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.

Reply:Not a lot beats slicing up something old (and preferably) rare Some detail pics of the chop would be great, always interesting to see the different ways people go about layout/cut positions. That heavy chop works better than i would have pictured from just a description- they often look a bit squashed with that much glass lost for my taste. From the origional pics i would have been thinking about taking a little less out of the pillars and either letting the screen into the roof a little or lowering the roof cap but with the sectioned front end it works well
Reply:Don't go over any speed bumps to fastNot a lot of head in there
