My company is thinking about getting a Lincoln 175 square wave Pro tig welder. We are concerned about electrical requirements. We have 230 volts, with a 30amp breaker in the square-D box. Does this seem like it will work?
Reply:It should carry it. I run a Dynasty 200 with a 30A breaker, and haven't crashed it.
Reply:That Lincoln is not an inverter-based supply like the Miller Dynasty. It requires significantly more power. You can do some welding but you'll trip the 30A breaker if you push it. Lincoln wants a 100 - 125A breaker, depending on the process, but that's really overkill, like most of Lincoln's manual's recommendations for breakers. If you really want to use that circuit FOR THAT WELDER ONLY, and it is well-labeled and not left there when you move out, you can put a 60A breaker on your #10 wire and you'll be good to go. |
