First time I ever used orange.  Probably the lastApologies to 4Shorts, and Mondo.  Bought the paint about a month ago.  Didn't mean to copy.  Besides it's Allis orange.  A respected color around these partsFigured the orange would be a good "safety" color.  Easy to see against green trees.  Keep ya aware of what you're about to run over.  I didn't realize it would be this ORANGEAbout a week to cure, and it's off to the field.  At least I won't misplace the damn thingThank God ol' Clarence is color blind Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Looks great! As you say, it'll be a good contrast between the green of the trees and what you're driving. My tractor is orange and dark green and looks fine.Might pay to wear sunglasses for a fortnight."One of the things we have to be thankful for is that we don't get as much government as we pay for." Reply:A few years ago, i restored a 1949 Allis Chalmers tractor and ordered paint which the catalog called Persian Orange.  I had the same reaction when I saw it.  At first, that paint was almost pink but, after it had time to cure, it calmed down and looked like something that belonged on a tractor.
Reply:I love that Allis orange paint. Grew up riding Allis-Chalmers tractors. The local favorite tractor by a wide margin was Farmall and I could never figure out why. The Allis' made farming so much easier. One of the first 3 point hitch systems, hydraulic implement level control, hydraulic weight control, and more fuel efficent engines. I drove an M Farmall some for the neighbor and hated that thing but I was getting paid so I drove it. I could step up on the Allises while I had to climb the Farmall. To turn around and hit your row, you had to start spinning that steering wheel about 6 feet before you reached the end of the row and start spinning it the other way about half way around you turn. It had a really slow steering ratio. Tool set-up time was a long longer and a lot more work too. The neighbor had a UB Moline (Twin City was another local name) that I drove some. You needed a stepladder to get to the drivers seat but I liked it a lot better than the Farmall. It had enough power to pull the hitch off most implements but I still liked Allis better.  I was really sad when Allis went away.I bought a Kubota and ONE factor was that orange paint. It certainly wasn't the only reason but it was a consideration.

Reply:Excellent choice of colors!  Right, you will always know where the extremities of that implement are.The bucket extenders I'm fabricating are going to be painted flourescent orange, per the owner.  If he is out clearing snow in a storm he wants motorists driving by to know the bucket is wider than the tractor.  -MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.

Reply:I was hoping they would work outside in a breeze.  I waste a lot of paint when it's windy.Hook another tank to compressor, and shoot at 60psi at the gun.  It looked like an orange  smoke screen bein' layed down"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
