Hi People,Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced a yellow powder looking substance on the gas cup when welding aluminum?? My setup is with a Syncrowave on AC, 15 to 20 cfm on the pure Argon, 2% Thor. tung. welding on boat outdrives / lower units. I do know about the contamination issues. These units usually have hairline cracks in them. I grind them out to a V shape, clean all areas with a SS brush, then wipe with Acetone before welding. I suspect that it is something in the base aluminum. Thanks for your helpKell
Reply:The yellow powder is from contamination....usually on the tungsten side. Are you dipping the tungsten into the work accidentally? How far do you have the tungsten sticking out from the cup?- Paulhttp://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories |
