.So would this setup be OK? Looks pretty low cost and effective to me, but I'm kinda new to this welding game, so I thought I'd ask here just in case someone with more experience (and an eagle eye) might see something unsafe in this welding helmet approach...
Reply:Might want to question the quality just a little but I've heard finding replacement parts is easy.
Reply:I hate to admit it but over the years I have spent a bunch of money trying to save money. I spend even more when I try to "work my way up" to the machine or tool I wanted in the first place. Usually by the time I get the one I wanted I had spent twice what it would of cost to buy it first! So far I haven't done anything quite like in your photo but I did get some stuff from Harbor Freight once that did look very similar........Tom Hintz, publisherwww.newmetalworker.comLincoln Pro Mig 180Lincoln AC 255Determination

Reply:I had to finish a repair with a shade 10 in oa goggles after I got mad and chucked my helmet breaking it into pieces. The arc burn on my face reminded me not to do that again.
