does anyone use the chem-sharp tungston sharpening product ? how does it work,is it better than grinding? worth the $ thanks for any comments
Reply:this ? has been asked and answered many times..i grind it.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:i have not tryed it but as i understand it you heat the tung then dip. it can not make a flat tip only a point so you may still need to grind after you dip depending on your use. it can also be a bit agressive. eating up more tung than is needed and will no dought take more than a grind would. on the + side its fast and simple, some love it others hate it. at about $4-$6 a a can you should realy make that choice your self. its kinda like what type of tung should you use ??? many answers all wright for some all wrong for others. i keep meaning it get a can to give the stuff a try but never seem to remember when at the LWS. some day i'll remember and give it a try, my goal is to get a sharpie some day, small simple and acurate and at about $250 not a bad price eather.good luck be shore to tell us how you like it if you give it a try.8^)) summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:I have used the sharpie tungsten grinder and it works great. I am just a hobby welder and grind mine but if I actually start making more than turbo manifolds I will definately buy one.
Reply:If you don't like getting up and walking to the grinder, then the dip helps.  However, it is not a replacement for a grinder.
Reply:Darn I really didn't want to agree with Zap! ... No real reason just wanted to be difficult...snickerThis horse has been beat to death in other threads..Go to Search and search for "Tungsten Grinding" and hit enter. One of the threads is titled "Tungsten Grinding - The Chemical Way" it's discussed there and in a couple of others that will come up on the search.Washman
Reply:I've never tried it and see no reason to.I grind several at a time, using a cordless drill and the bench grinder.  I just can't see how the dip can possibly be more convenient.
