I stopped by my local Tractor Supply store today and they had the Hobart XVS welding helmets for $79.99. That is $70 off. Here is a link to the helmet that is on sale:[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Hobart-770450-Welding-Helmet-Flame/dp/B000SSPX42"]Hobart 770450 Welding Helmet[/ame]
Reply:I got a standard welding helmet, Hobart with large viewing lens, for $14.99 this past week. Good deal on a back up helmet.
Reply:Well, I hope you have better luck with yours than I'm having with mine. Got the same model about 8 mos. ago and thought it was fine until I started having trouble seeing horizontal stringers. I tried everything. You name it. It ended up being the poor resolution through the AD lens on that hood. I put it up against an old school manual with a gold #10 lens and I could finally see. The other problem is finding the replacement front and back clear polycarbonate covers for that thing. Only place that I could find them at a reasonable price was Cyberweld. They have the Hobart kit that has 6 front and 2 inside lenses for around $7.00 I think. Hobart uses a lens size that no one else uses so forget about picking up covers at the LWS when you need one and trust me on this, you will need to have an absolutely clean front lens cover to see what you're welding with that helmet.I finally retired it to barn use and keep my Jackson fiber hood for the critical work at school.But....you did get a great deal on it. Hope it works out for you.Eric |
