Waiting on the guys to shear the sheet metal for floor and tool box.3 critical reinforcements still need doin'. And the overhead traveling beam, and 3pt brackets need doin'. Just about a done deal though.Welder will sit crossways against 3pt, and torch cart will sit to the rear. Restraining system for cart needs to be attached.Heat's been a real b!tch. All heat has been concentrated on top of the beam, and it's been a real fun deal keeping the beam straight throughout the process. The idea is to be able to carry the damn thing on a 3pt hitch, and to also be able to lift it onto a truck. The traveling beam positioned anywhere along the uprights(x,y) will allow me to balance any center of gravity possible, depending on what's on the skid at any given time. It's set up with the knowledge that there will always be a changing lift point.Supper time. Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I don't know what the heck yer building, but the metal fab is pretty cool. Why does it have to be 'perfect'? Build everything first and then do the important 'line up' pieces (3 point?). Don't forget that everything I build can be lifted with one hand. Brackets, widgets and gizmos are me. After 2 years of welding class, I got to start aluminum last week. 9-11-2001......We Will Never ForgetRetired desk jockey. Hobby weldor with a little training. Craftsman O/A---Flat, Vert, Ovhd, Horz. Reply:That thing looks like it will be bomb proof. I guess you are using your lincoln stick welder in the picture;are you using DC? and what kind of rod? I think the max DC amps on those welders is 150, do you ever have a need for more then that? I'm shopping for a AC/DC Arc welder and am just looking for a little feedback

Reply:Wow Farmer! That looks great, I have never seen one that looked as good..........what is it? #1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
Reply:Sam, that's a nice looking rig, but Way overkill in my opinion. I could never justify the extra price of the materials to build it that heavy. Work looks good. Keep the pics rolling.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Sam, that's awful nice. I like the way you build things, heavy and strong. Looks like the shop has been seeing a lot of work lately.
Reply:How do you get the welder passed those angle braces? To you have a 3 pt boom to lift it in, or perhaps a bucket w/chain?A butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug
Reply:Impressive and it looks bulletproof.
Reply:Hello Samm. Nobody will ever accuse you of under engineering!! Looking really good,(like the little touch of the cross beams extending past the uprights,Crack on samm we want to see it finished, Hope you can keep it secure, would hate to see some low life toe rag take all your gear in one lump. Good Luck and best regards Gordon.

It will handle 1/8" rods with no problem. It maxes out at 125amps DC. Anything bigger and you can run an AC rod like 7018-ac.
