TIG spare parts torch

Hi guys,First of all I would like to say that this is a great forum to learn more about welding. I've bought a TIG welding machine a month ago and I'm in the very beginning of learning the proces.I have this question: a guy on the internet is selling a box full of spare parts for the tig torch, like gaslenses, different kind of gasnozzles, electrodes, different length of backcaps, collets, collet bodys etc.So I'm wondering, are the spare parts universal, or if you have a miller of licoln welding machine, you must buy the parts of the same brand.Thnx for your awnsersGrtz from holland  ,                        Sven
Reply:TIG torch parts are not universal, but there are many different brands that produce similar models the accept the same components.Weldcraft is one manufacturer, and this site has diagrams which may help you determine which parts fit your torch.http://www.weldcraft.com/
Reply:I believe you can usually go by the 'series' or model number that your torch is.For instance if your torch has a 9 on it, like wp9 or something, any of the 9-series stuff off of ebay should fit. Is the guy aglevtech or something like that? I've ordered from him and been happy with the results.- John
Reply:Generally TIG torch parts are standard, as runchman pointed out...   you'll find SR-9, WP-9, WT-9 which are usually the same.  The key is to get quality, from a trusted source, so that your parts fit together as they should to get the best performance out of the torch.  Also, there are two main "sizes" if you will, of parts, the 13N series and the 10N series...  the 13N series parts go with your 9, 20, 24, or weldcraft's CS300 or CS310 Series TIG torches.  The 10N series go with 17, 18, 26 or the Weldcraft CS410 Series TIG Torch.Hope that helps.-----------------------Carmen Electrodewww.CarmenElectrode.comand the boss blogs at  www.JoeWelder.comall powered by  www.Arc-Zone.com

Reply:Well, for one thing the CS310 torch pacakges come with the reinforced flexible braided rubber hoses as standard and include  front end parts and a cable cover...   most other industry standard "torch packages" include a torch body and the cables/hosesThe crafter series also uses mechanical hose and cable connections and has an improved cable design for better long term torch performance and adds additional amperage rating to the popular WP-20 series torch.  Users have told us repeatedley that "the crafter series starts easier and has better current control than other torches.The crafter series also has an ergonomically designed handle-- not perfect but, an improvement, the flat top design gives operators a reference point it makes the torch easier to control and point in the right direction. . .  as to whether its worth it, that's a hard question to answer as so much of this is personal choice.  All I can say is we've never had one returned!-----------------------Carmen Electrodewww.CarmenElectrode.comand the boss blogs at  www.JoeWelder.comall powered by  www.Arc-Zone.com
