hi guys, need some help, just got a job to fab and weld some alum pipe railings, last time I did railings was back in the early 80s. I know how to do the take out for the top pieces, but I forgot the take out (if there is one) for the lower cross members that get notched to fit the uprights, I don't know if these notches will be done manually or mechanically. So for 2" pipe with uprights at 10' on center what length should the cross members be with out the notches? Thanks  like I said its been awhile!ROBERT ARNOLD
Reply:I don't know the take-out for 2" because we use 1-1/2", which is 7/16 per end. You do realize that OSHA has a max of 8 ft on centers for uprights, though.
