learnt two things today

One is that you can't tig in the wind, if you want to see a weld screw up quick let the shield gas get blown away, so goes the weld.Two, I see why you need a table. While putting my table together, I was working on the ground, using my knee on the foot pedal, twisted around like a contortionist. I am sure you pro's can do that stuff and have to, but a part timer and just learning it was a real pain. I hope to have the table done next weekend, I have the frame for the top nice and square and flat.
Reply:Don't think that just becasue you have a table you won't have to use your knee to run the pedal.  Don't worry there will plenty of times where standing up or sitting down won't cut it to allow you to be comfortable._________________Chris

Reply:They don't make a knee/foot pedal, but if you often find yourself in weird positions look into a finger controll. I have a buddy who builds tube chassis for desert race trucks wich puts him in odd positions and he swears by his. I've tried it a few times and it takes getting used to, keeping the arc steady can be a PITA, but it can pay off.
Reply:i actually have found that the finger control is really nice to work with, even in a sitting position but it doesnt allow you to change your amperage on the go....you have to stop your weld or ajust speed bla bla bla
Reply:The issue I run into is just keeping a steady hand while moving my finger, but I definitly see how it's more veretile
Reply:Oh yeah, also the end of the filler rod can burn through your pants and the first layer of skin by the time you feel it.
