I am an educator working with adult students with mild learning disabilities. Basically, fully functional adults who have a hard time reading or doing math. One of my students is entering the welding program and I need a bit of help locating resources.Part of my program calls for careful documentation of what skills the student has learned. The welding instructor has a standard curriculum he follows that teaches all the skills effectively, but he does not have a "checklist" of specific skills. For a variety of reasons, this is what I need. I can produce the checklist myself from his Hobart Manuals, but if there is an industry recognized set of checklists that employers would recognize from the industry, I'd prefer to use that.Do such checklists exist somewhere? The closest I have found is here (also produced by an educator):http://dwd.wisconsin.gov/dwd/forms/d.../wbl_10205.pdfWhich is a good start and the type of format I am looking for, but very incomplete. I want a list that breaks down specific skills into their discrete parts (ex: For a single groove butt joint weld of two plates Step 1. Cut groove Step 2. Grind/Prep cut surfaces Step 3. Select proper electrode Step 4. etc. etc. through till the part is completed).I'm starting with SMAW, but hopefully my students will be going through the whole program that covers quite a bit more.If you have any suggestions of where I can look for these resources, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Reply:You might check with the local boilermakers, ironworkers, pipe and steam fitters. All of them like bureaucratic red tape. |
