Got to hand it to the guy who built this. Check the temp gauge out, mounted where the thermostat housing would be. Love them small block chevy's. Got a 1965 327 cid sittin' in the barn waiting to be put in something. Got the 202 heads too. Attached Images

Reply:I have been wondering what to do with old 4 bolt main truck engine I have sitting by my barn. I would imagine with a plasma torch and some imagination you could lighten that manifold and heads so they don't weigh so much.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.

Reply:Yeah, the heads do weigh things down quite at bit.. it's not a kids toy and will lop off a finger in a blink of an eye. I tried to find some junk aluminum heads at the time with no luck. And there's not a lot of room below the grill for charcoal, so unless you want to cook right in the middle of the grill, gas seems to be the only option.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:I'd also like to know how he cut the cylinders out of the block. That must have been a neat trick. I'm with Samm, lifting the lid must take a chain hoist.
Reply:As far as crud goes, a good burning then power wash and then spray it down good with oven cleaner, let set then another power wash ought to do it!#1. Reply:They both need a pair of boobs and maybe some legs and they'll be a true man's BBQ.The second appears to be a 3412. I've got a few 3512's, I wonder if I could make them into a BBQ. Our EMD's might be easier because they have steel blocks while the Cat's are cast iron. |
