Ok I just got a really weird request from my accountant.  He wants gates for his office.  But he wants them to look like the gates of graceland.  (huge elvis fan) Anybody got blue prints of them, all I can find is pictures.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers

Reply:Ah, thankyew, thankyewverramuch ........ Didja tell him you'd ah, paint 'em over in blue suede for him after ya were done .......?
Reply:If his office / gate is that big you are obviously paying him way tooooo much !Not a beginner, not a pro !
Reply:Man,those gates were put up in the early 60's...I doubt they even have blueprints of them anywhere.I lived down the road from there in the sixties and spent a little time there when we were riding our Hondas and even stopped to talk to Elvis or watch him riding his bikes around the driveway. Poor guy couldn't go anywhere without getting mobbed. There should be some great pics of the gates on the internet and replicating them shouldn't be too tough. You might call "Graceland" and they might be able to give you some basic measurements if you need to replicate them 'very' close. If I remember correctly they are solid bar and heavy built, but your best bet would be a phone call or find someone on here that lives close enough to stop and sketch them out for you.
Reply:They were installed 4-22-1957, here are some good pictures. I doubt you'll find blue prints but you should be able to draw something from these > http://www.elvispresleymusic.com.au/..._april_22.html I'd suggest ditching the expanded metal that was used to keep fans from slipping through as it doesn't look so hot.
Reply:If the guy wants the graceland look he proby expects the expanded metal.
Reply:Maybe but it doesn't change the overall look other than to make it look cheap.
Reply:I had no idea they were installed that early in his career.... As for the "Cheap" look--YEP! The mesh was to keep unwanted guests from slipping thru...Although when he wasn't there the gates were usually open. That's a lot of fabrication involved in the figures.....in 1957 not to much $$$,but now--WOW!Interesting thread...let us know if you build them...You might contact the original builders if they are still in business. It's amazing the information you can find on the internet.
Reply:Well I am waiting till he gets back from his vacation to get some more info on what he really wants to do.  He isn't that expensive.  I have used him since I was 16, he just has an amazing number of customers with his two locations.  He makes his money in volume.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
