these are some of my first tig welds on steel, the pieces where galvenized or had some coating that turned into a whitish dust, 18 cfh argon, 90 amp 2% thoriated. the tungsten is ike a magnet to that melted metal..grind grind..Last edited by roadkillbobb; 07-31-2012 at 03:39 PM.
Reply:Know what your saing about the magnet.......(use to do that to when I first started, it will get better as you go) about 80% of tig is getting into a position where you can brace you torch hand to mantain the angle to the seam and distance from it........you could use your pinky to do this or what ever you like ,but brace , brace ,brace......Don't free hand it yet.You could also use whats called walking the cup.......Anyway looks good for first time....aluminum as well......(if I did't say so there) Red.Lincoln Percision tig 225 (Water cooled)Lincoln 350MP Power mig (with spool gun )Lincoln GXT 250 With Tig ModuleLincoln Ln-25 Pro Dual PowerCentury 50 plasma cutter.now Lincoln .
